Elon Musk and Grimes change baby’s name: ‘Roman numerals look better’ | Technology – Blog – 10 minute

The tech entrepreneur Elon Musk and the musician Grimes have changed the unusual and largely unpronounceable name of their firstborn child. But anyone hoping that X Æ A-12 might be replaced by something a little more conventional is going to be disappointed.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Grimes confirmed that the baby formerly known as X Æ A-12 would now be known as X Æ A-Xii.
Grimes gave no explanation for the change to using roman numerals, but later responded to a post asking if the alteration was made to comply with a California law that holds only the 26 letters of the alphabet can be used for child names.
“Roman numerals. Looks better tbh,” she wrote.

The couple appeared to have been at odds over how to interpret X Æ A-12 from the outset. The musician, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, previously explained that Æ was her “elven spelling” of AI (for artificial intelligence) and “X” stood for “the unknown variable”.
“It’s just X, like the letter X. Then AI. Like how you said the letter A then I,” wrote Grimes on Thursday in response to a query on Instagram.
But Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, told the podcast host Joe Rogan a different story: “I mean it’s just X, the letter X. And then the Æ is, like, pronounced ‘Ash’… and then A-12. A-12 is my contribution.”
Musk already had five children – Griffin and Xavier and triplets Damian, Saxon and Kai – as well as a son, Nevada, who died as an infant. He credited his partner for the creative leap.
“First of all, my partner is the one that, actually, mostly, came up with the name,” he said. “Yeah, she’s great at names.”

Elon Musk’s SpaceX to launch first astronauts from US soil since 2011 | SpaceX – Blog – 10 minute

Elon Musk’s SpaceX company hopes to make history on Wednesday by launching the first astronauts into space from US soil in nine years, as the billionaire takes the next step in his dream to commercialise space travel.
Donald Trump will be among the spectators at Kennedy space centre in Florida to witness the launch, which has been given the green light despite the coronavirus lockdown.
At 4.33pm (2033 GMT) on Wednesday, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is due to take off from launchpad 39A – the same one the Apollo astronauts used to get to the moon – with the Crew Dragon space capsule on top of it. It is a demonstration of the new “taxi” service Nasa has agreed to buy from Musk’s firm.

The Nasa astronauts Robert Behnken, 49, and Douglas Hurley, 53, both veterans of space flight, completed the final rehearsal of the mission on Saturday. The launch on Wednesday will be the first astronaut launch from Kennedy space centre since the last Nasa shuttle flight in 2011.
The space agency’s commercial crew programme, aimed at developing private spacecraft to carry American astronauts, began under Barack Obama. But Trump sees it as a symbol of his strategy to reassert American domination of space, both military – with his creation of the Space Force – and civilian. He has ordered Nasa to return to the moon by 2024.
Nasa has awarded SpaceX more than $3bn (£2bn) in contracts since 2011 to build the spacecraft.

Elon Musk v public health: a timeline of the Tesla factory standoff | Elon Musk – Blog – 10 minute

O
n Monday 11 May, Elon Musk attempted to fashion himself into a hero of the anti-public-health movement when he dared authorities to arrest him for restarting production at Tesla’s northern California car plant, in defiance of the local shelter-in-place order. Neither Musk nor anyone else has been arrested, but his action has placed state and local officials in the difficult situation of figuring out whether and how to enforce coronavirus restrictions against a litigious billionaire who is also a major employer.
On Tuesday, his cause gained the support of another hot-headed executive with an overactive Twitter account: Donald Trump. “California should let Tesla & @elonmusk open the plant, NOW,” the president tweeted Tuesday morning. “It can be done Fast & Safely!”
How did we get here? Here’s a handy timeline of what led up to Musk’s meltdown May:
6 March

On the day that global confirmed cases of Covid-19 surpass 100,000, Musk declares on Twitter: “The coronavirus panic is dumb.” The tweet sets the tone for Musk’s approach toward the deadly pandemic, repeatedly downplaying the risk of the virus and opposing public health measures.

The coronavirus panic is dumb
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) March 6, 2020

11 March

16 March

Six counties in the San Francisco Bay Area become the first locales in the US to order all non-essential businesses to close and require residents to shelter in place. Included in the coordinated public health order is Alameda county, home to Tesla’s only US car factory, in the city of Fremont.

Musk emails his employees to say that he plans to continue working, signaling that he does not plan to shut the factory.

On Twitter, Musk promotes chloroquine, an unproven treatment for Covid-19 that would become the darling of Fox News and Trump before being largely abandoned amid reports of dangerous cardiac side effects.

17 March

The Alameda county sheriff’s office announces that Tesla is not an essential business and therefore can only maintain “minimum basic operations” under the public health order. Tesla does not comply.

18 March

Musk tweets that Tesla will manufacture ventilators “if there is a shortage”. There is no indication that Tesla ever took any steps to do so, though Musk tweets about having a “long engineering discussion” with the medical device maker Medtronic on 21 March.

19 March

Under pressure from local officials, Tesla agrees to halt production at its Fremont factory by 23 March – a week after the public health order.

On Twitter, Musk predicts that there will be “probably close to zero new cases” of Covid-19 in the US by the end of April. He also asserts falsely that children are “essentially immune” to the virus.

California’s governor, Gavin Newsom, issues a statewide shelter-in-place order.

23 March

31 March

Musk tweets an offer to ship “FDA-approved ventilators” to hospitals. The devices turn out to be BiPap machines, which are commonly used to treat sleep apnea, rather than the much more expensive mechanical ventilators that hospitals use to intubate severely ill patients.

Bay Area officials extend their shelter-in-place orders through 3 May.

26 April

Musk promotes a YouTube video by two California doctors using misleading statistics to argue against shelter-in-place orders. The video is removed by YouTube for promoting harmful misinformation, and the doctors are “jointly and emphatically condemn[ed]” by the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.

27 April

28 April

Musk adopts the rhetoric of anti-lockdown protesters in a late-night Twitter rant, tweeting, “FREE AMERICA NOW” and “Give people their freedom back!” He also falsely describes the shelter-in-place restrictions as “de facto house arrest”.

29 April

Musk unleashes another rant during Tesla’s quarterly earnings call with investors, declaring public health measures “fascist” and demanding: “Give people back their goddamn freedom.”

Tesla beats analyst expectations for the quarter, delivering its third straight quarterly profit despite the major coronavirus disruptions.

1 May

Another Twitter diatribe by Musk wipes about $13bn off Tesla’s market value, after he declares that he plans to sell “almost all physical possessions”, including his house(s), and then opines that Tesla’s stock price is “too high imo”. Tesla’s stock price drops about 9% following the tweets.

Tesla stock price is too high imo
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 1, 2020

4 May

Musk’s partner, Claire Boucher, a musician who performs as Grimes, gives birth to the couple’s first child, a son named X Æ A-12.

7 May

Newsom announces new rules to allow some non-essential businesses, including some manufacturers, in California to reopen on 8 May. He also says that local rules supersede statewide rules, if they are stricter.

8 May

9 May

Tesla sues Alameda county, alleging that the county’s continuing shelter-in-place order is unconstitutional.

On Twitter, Musk declares that Tesla will “now move its HQ and future programs to Texas/Nevada immediately” and threatens to stop manufacturing in Fremont. Musk also attacks the local public health officer, Dr Erica Pan, calling her “unelected and ignorant”.

County officials say they have been working with Tesla on a safety plan to allow the factory to reopen.

11 May

Tesla resumes production at the Fremont factory in defiance of the public health order. Musk tweets, “If anyone is arrested, I ask that it only be me.”

Alameda county officials tell Tesla that it is violating the public health order and say they hope it will “comply without further enforcement measures”.

Elon Musk says he’s ready for arrest as California Tesla plant reopens – Strategy- Tempemail – Blog – 10 minute

Tesla chief executive Elon Musk on Monday said production was resuming at the automaker’s sole US vehicle factory, in California, defying an order to stay closed and saying if anyone had to be arrested it should be him.
The move comes as states and cities around the United States experiment with ways to safely reopen their economies after the coronavirus outbreak shuttered businesses and forced tens of millions of Americans out of work.
Musk over the weekend threatened to leave California for Texas or Nevada over his factory’s closure.
His move has highlighted the competition for jobs and ignited a rush to woo the billionaire executive by states that have reopened their economies more quickly in response to encouragement from US President Donald Trump.
In an email on Monday, Tesla referred to an order on Thursday by California’s governor allowing manufacturers to resume operations and said that as of Sunday, previously furloughed employees were back to their regular employment status.
“We’re happy to get back to work and have implemented very detailed plans to help you keep safe as you return,” according to the email seen by Reuters and titled “Furlough Has Ended And We Are Back To Work in Production!”
Musk in a tweet said production was resuming on Monday, adding that he would join workers on the assembly line. “If anyone is arrested, I ask that it only be me,” he wrote.
Health officials in Alameda County, where the Fremont factory is based, late on Monday said they were aware that Tesla had opened beyond the so-called minimum basic operations allowed during lockdown, and had notified the company it could not operate without a county-approved plan.
In a statement, officials said they expected a proposal from Tesla later on Monday and “hope Tesla will likewise comply without further enforcement measures.” The statement did not specify consequences and said officials would not comment further.
The county’s lockdown order says violations are punishable by fine, imprisonment or both.
A spokesperson for the Fremont Police Department on Monday said her office was enforcing the lockdown order at the direction of the health department and had been advised that the county is working with Tesla directly.
Separately on Monday, US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said California should do whatever is necessary to help the electric carmaker reopen its only US vehicle factory if it wants to keep the company in its state.
California Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday said he spoke to Musk several days ago and that the Tesla founder’s concerns helped prompt the state to begin its phased reopening of manufacturing last week.
“I have not only known that company but I have known its founder for many, many years,” Newsom said in his daily coronavirus press briefing.
“I have great reverence for their technology, for their innovative spirit, for their leadership.”
Tesla, which also has a vehicle plant in Shanghai and is building another in Berlin, on Saturday sued the county, alleging it had violated California’s constitution by defying Newsom’s orders allowing manufacturers to reopen.
Musk has discussed opening a second US factory outside California in the past. In a tweet in February, he solicited comments on potentially opening a factory in Texas.
Since his threat to leave California on Saturday, officials from Texas, Georgia, Utah, Oklahoma and Nevada have reached out to Musk on Twitter, encouraging him to relocate to their state.
A Texas official said his county was available immediately to accommodate Tesla and invited the billionaire CEO for a visit.
“We have a motivated, pro-business governor,” Richard Cortez, county judge of Texas’ Hidalgo County, said on Monday.
“What we no longer have is a shelter at home mandate.”
Musk in response tweeted: “Note is much appreciated.”

Elon Musk threatens to move Tesla HQ out of California over Covid-19 restrictions | Coronavirus outbreak – Blog – 10 minute

Tesla is suing local authorities in California as the electric carmaker pushes to reopen its factory there and chief executive Elon Musk threatens to move the company’s headquarters to Texas or Nevada.
Musk has been pushing to reopen Tesla’s Fremont, California, factory after Alameda County’s health department said the carmaker must not reopen because local lockdown measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus remain in effect.
Tesla filed a lawsuit against the county on Saturday, calling the continued restrictions a “power-grab” by the county since California’s governor had said on Thursday that manufacturers in the state would be allowed to reopen.
The company said Alameda was going against the federal and California constitutions, as well as defying the governor’s order, in the lawsuit filed in San Francisco federal court.
Alameda County, where the Fremont factory is located, is scheduled to remain shut until the end of May, with only essential businesses allowed to reopen. County officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the lawsuit.
The outspoken Musk also took to Twitter on Saturday to complain and threatened to leave the state.
“If we even retain Fremont manufacturing activity at all, it will be dependent on how Tesla is treated in the future,” he tweeted. The San Francisco Bay area facility is currently Tesla’s only US vehicle factory.

Frankly, this is the final straw. Tesla will now move its HQ and future programs to Texas/Nevada immediately. If we even retain Fremont manufacturing activity at all, it will be dependen on how Tesla is treated in the future. Tesla is the last carmaker left in CA.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 9, 2020

Alameda County said on Saturday that it has been working with Tesla to develop a safety plan that “allows for reopening while protecting the health and well-being of the thousands of employees” who work at the factory, and that it looks forward to coming to an agreement on a safety plan very soon.
Fremont mayor Lily Mei expressed concern about the potential economic implications of continuing the shelter-in-place order without provisions for manufacturers such as Tesla to resume. Mei on Saturday urged the county to work with businesses on “acceptable guidelines for re-opening”.
Musk had told employees on Thursday that limited production would restart at Fremont on Friday afternoon.
Tesla builds more than 415,000 cars a year at the Fremont plant and moving the entire production facility would be a massive undertaking.
Dan Ives, a Wedbush analyst, on Saturday estimated it could take the company 12 to 18 months to relocate production.
The threat to relocate the facility comes as Tesla aims to ramp up production at Fremont of its Model Y sport utility vehicle, the carmaker’s most profitable vehicle to date.
Musk, who sparred with California officials in March over whether Tesla had to halt production at Fremont, had criticised the lockdown and stay-at-home orders, calling them a “serious risk” to US business and “unconstitutional”.
Tesla shares have risen 127% since 18 March, their recent closing low, including a 16.8% gain in the last trading week to close at $819.42 on Friday.

Coronavirus has Elon Musk acting like just another used car salesman | Technology – Blog – 10 minute

What has happened to Elon Musk?
A highlight reel of the billionaire Tesla CEO’s activities since early March includes his pooh-poohing the coronavirus “panic” as “dumb”; keeping his northern California factory open in defiance of local public health orders; falsely asserting that children are “essentially immune” from the virus; providing a giant platform to promoters of an unproven and potentially dangerous treatment; predicting (inaccurately) that the US would have no new cases of Covid-19 by the end of April; attempting to re-open the factory before the end of the local shelter-in-place order; and calling shelter-in-place orders “fascist”. (Let’s not even get into the drama over whether the BiPap machines he donated to some hospitals count as ventilators.)

Musk’s dissemination of misinformation about the virus is not without consequences

Musk’s dissemination of misinformation about the virus is not without consequences. He has more than 33m followers on Twitter and a fan base that tends to exalt him as a cross between Tony Stark and God. A recent study published as a letter in the Journal of the American Medical Association Internal Medicine linked his tweet about chloroquine, an anti-malaria drug that was subsequently touted as a potential Covid-19 treatment by Donald Trump, to a dramatic surge in online demand for the prescription medication. “They weren’t aware of it, they weren’t interested in it – they were trying to buy it,” John Ayers, a UC San Diego professor of medicine and one of the study’s authors, told the Guardian in an interview.
The chloroquine document that Musk shared was an example of what the infectious disease expert Carl Bergstrom has described as quantitative “bullshit” – the use of statistics and data to persuade someone by overwhelming and intimidating them, “without any allegiance to truth or accuracy”. Last week, Musk was apparently taken in by another pair of coronavirus bullshit artists, this time a pair of doctors from Bakersfield, California.
Drs Dan Erickson and Artin Massihi held a press conference to promote the idea that Covid-19 is much more widespread and much less deadly than what “ivory tower” figures such as Dr Anthony Fauci have said. “Docs make good points,” Musk tweeted, with a link to a YouTube video of the 50-minute press conference. (YouTube removed the video for spreading misinformation, but not before it received millions of views; one of the doctors has gone on to make appearances on Fox News.)
The docs did not make good points. After opening his remarks by defining “science” like a high schooler writing a term paper (“What is science? Essentially, it’s the study of the natural world through experiment, through observation, so that’s what we’re doing”) Erickson presented testing data from the chain of urgent care clinics they own. The clinics have performed 5,213 Covid-19 tests and had 340 positive results, which they claimed means that there is a 6.5% rate of infection in the local population. The pair performed the same math (positive tests divided by total tests) on the statewide numbers of 33,865 positive tests out of 280,900 total, to arrive at a 12% infection rate for the state. From there, they calculated that California has had a total of 4.7m infections and calculated that the death rate for people who contract Covid-19 in California is just 0.03% – much lower than that of the seasonal flu.

None of this stands up to scrutiny. In order to assume that the rate of infection amongst a small number of people can apply to the entire population, you have to use a random and representative sample. But the people who are getting tested at urgent care clinics in California are neither random nor representative; they are people with severe symptoms or who are performing certain essential jobs. Figuring out the actual infection rate across the broader population will require careful sampling that avoids this selection bias.
The Bakersfield duo used their meaningless numbers to argue that shelter-in-place orders must be lifted – a position that Musk clearly also holds. (In an extraordinary joint statement, the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine “jointly and emphatically condemn[ed]” the pair, and suggested they were “releasing biased, non-peer reviewed data to advance their personal financial interests without regard for the public’s health”.)
The issue is not that Musk has staked out a contrarian stance on the coronavirus. There are difficult debates that need to be had over how and when to restart the economy in order to minimize long term economic harms and maximize public health. We can and should have that discussion, and we should do it without impugning the moral character of everyone who argues for a faster loosening of restrictions.
But it’s increasingly difficult to take Musk seriously when he makes his argument by cherry-picking numbers or relying on blatant misuse of data. Please, make your case, but make it using real facts, and not by playing fast and loose with numbers in an effort to mislead the public about what is actually happening. Otherwise you look and sound a lot less like the brilliant engineer and entrepreneur, and a lot more like just another used car salesman.

Elon Musk rails against ‘fascist’ shelter-in-place orders in Tesla earnings call | Tesla – Blog – 10 minute

Elon Musk unleashed a diatribe against shelter-in-place orders, describing the public health measures intended to stem the spread of coronavirus as “fascist”, during an earnings call on Wednesday.
“This is not democratic,” he said of the orders, which he falsely characterized as stipulating that anyone who leaves home would be arrested. “This is not freedom – give people back their goddamn freedom.”
Musk’s rant came despite a relatively good earnings report for Tesla, in which the company beat analysts’ estimates for first-quarter revenue on Wednesday. It posted its third straight quarterly profit after recording a solid number of deliveries during the period, despite disruptions due to the pandemic.
Earlier on the call, Musk specifically cited the Bay Area’s shelter-in-place order, which has prevented his factory in Fremont, California, from opening, as a concern.
“We are a bit worried about not being able to resume production in the Bay Area,” he began. “The extension of shelter-in-place – or as I would call it, forcibly imprisoning people in their homes, against all constitutional right, and in my opinion infringing on people’s freedoms in ways that are horrible and wrong, and not why people came to America or pulled this country – what the fuck?” he said, before trailing off. He said shelter-in-place would cause “great harm” to companies.
Musk’s comments followed a series of erratic tweets on Tuesday night calling on the government to relax social distancing restrictions, sharing articles and praising examples of places relaxing their orders. “FREE AMERICA NOW,” one tweet read.
Despite these outbursts, shares of the company were up more than 4% in after hours trading, at $870.49.
Musk’s tweets came as the San Francisco Bay Area, where Tesla is headquartered, announced an extension of its shelter-in-place order from 4 March until at least the end of May.
Musk has repeatedly downplayed the seriousness of coronavirus and spread misinformation regarding the pandemic to his 33.4 million Twitter followers over the last several months. He has tweeted that children are “essentially immune” to coronavirus, which is not true, and said on 19 March that there would be “close to zero new cases” in the US “by end of April”, which has also not proven to be true.
The Tesla executive also dragged his feet on shutting down the Tesla factory after the Bay Area order on 17 March, designed to shutter “non-essential” businesses. Finally he ceased manufacturing at the factory on 23 March.
The pandemic has disrupted demand for cars, with automakers being forced to shut shop and furlough workers, fueling uncertainty over when supply chains will return back to normal once lockdowns are eased.
“Due to the wide range of potential outcomes, near-term guidance of net income and free cash flow would likely be inaccurate,” Tesla said in a statement. “We will again revisit our 2020 guidance in our Q2 update.”
The electric carmaker also expects production of its Model Y in Fremont, California, and Model 3 in Shanghai will continue to ramp gradually through the second quarter.
The company said it will shift its first deliveries of the Tesla Semi model, which was previously expected to ship this year, to 2021.
This month, Tesla said production and deliveries of its Model Y sport utility vehicle was significantly ahead of schedule, as it delivered the highest number of vehicles in any first quarter to date, despite the outbreak.
Revenue rose to $5.99bn from $4.54bn during the same quarter last year. Analysts had expected revenue of $5.9bn for the latest quarter, according to IBES data from Refinitiv. Tesla reported a profit during the quarter of $16m.
Despite a better-than-expected earnings report, the reaction from Tesla’s stocks was relatively muted, said Kim Khan, a US markets analyst at Investing.com, as investors brace for global economic fallout from the pandemic.
“They’re now up further, but hovered around a postmarket gain of less than 2% for a while after the numbers came out,” Khan said. “There’s some hesitancy about how much more room there is to run for the stock, even with strong results.”

Elon Musk tweets protest against US coronavirus lockdown | Technology – Blog – 10 minute

Elon Musk, the multibillionaire founder and chief executive of electric car company Tesla, has joined those protesting against the coronavirus lockdown of the US economy, tweeting: “FREE AMERICA NOW”.
His outburst came as he was close to securing a $750m (£585m) payout from a bonus scheme linked to Tesla’s share price.

Musk, the world’s 22nd-richest person with an estimated $38.5bn (£30.5bn) fortune, on Wednesday tweeted: “Give people their freedom back!” with a link to a Wall Street Journal article suggesting that the lockdowns have not saved that many lives but have shattered local economies.

He also tweeted: “Bravo Texas!” with a link to a local newspaper story about the Texas governor Greg Abbott’s plans to allow shops, restaurants and movie theatres to reopen from Friday.
Musk, who has a history of tweeting controversial statements, later clarified that he did not think all shops and businesses should be reopened immediately.
Replying to another user on Twitter he said: “Yes, reopen with care & appropriate protection, but don’t everyone under de facto house arrest”.
His outburst came a day after Tesla was forced to delay the planned reopening of its electric car factory in Fremont, California, after six Bay Area counties extended the lockdown until the end of May. Tesla had been planning on reopening the factory on 4 May, when the lockdown order was supposed to be lifted. The factory has been shut since 23 March.

America’s Billionaires like Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk gain net worth during pandemic, says report- Tempemail – Blog – 10 minute

Read Article
The combined wealth of America’s billionaires, including Amazo founder Jeff Bezos and Tesla chief Elon Musk, increased nearly 10 percent during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, according to a report published by the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS). The wealth surge of America’s richest men happened during a period that saw as many as 22 million Americans file for unemployment. Even as the broader economy faced a recession, tech and stay-at-home stocks like Zoom have rallied in recent weeks, due to a surge in usage of video conferencing and remote work technology, thus boosting the net worth of billionaire founders with holdings in those companies.
“This is the tale of two pandemics, with very unequal sacrifice,” said Chuck Collins, a co-author of the report.
During the period between January 1 to April 10 this year, 34 of the country’s wealthiest billionaires have seen their net worth increase by tens of millions of dollars, the report said.
According to the IPS report, eight of these billionaires including Bezos, Zoom founder Eric Yuan and Musk saw a $1-billion (roughly Rs. 7,600 crores) jump in their total net worth.
Musk holds an 18.5 percent stake in Tesla shares, which has soared over 73 percent since the beginning of the year as traders looked beyond the short-term impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Bezos owns about 15.1 percent in Amazon stock, which has gained nearly 31 percent this year as online orders on its platform have surged due to people staying indoors.

Multi-billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk has confirmed that Tesla and SpaceX employees are “working on ventilators” even though he does not believe they will be needed. The confirmation came a day after New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio made a direct plea to Musk to help alleviate a shortage at hospitals gearing up to combat COVID-19.
“We are working on ventilators, even though I think there will not be a shortage by the time we can make enough to matter,” Musk tweeted on Friday.
It is unclear how many employees are working on the ventilators and which Tesla factory.
Earlier, responding to Pakistan’s Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry, a tweet from a Musk said the company would make ventilators if there is a shortage.
“Please repurpose your factory to make ventilators which are needed ASAP. I am a Tesla owner and love the company. You have to stop being an idiot about this. This is a massive disaster. Ask the doctors in the field,” read a tweet by Abbas that was aimed at Musk.
“Tesla makes cars with sophisticated HVAC systems. SpaceX makes spacecraft with life support systems. Ventilators are not difficult, but cannot be produced instantly,” said Musk over Twitter, and further adding, “Which hospitals have these shortages you speak of right now?”
The need for additional ventilators has taken centre stage in the ongoing fight against the spread of coronavirus and the ventilator has become a critical first line of defence for patients infected by the virus.
Worldwide deaths surged past 12,000, according to data collected by the Johns Hopkins University in the US. More than 299,000 people have been infected, while some 91,500 have recovered.
